It only used to be only water, but now almost everyone wants something sweet and flavored such as iced tea and carbonated cola to go with their meals. In fast food restaurants, the meal combinations offered often include these drinks for free.

In the past, such beverages were not considered harmful. However, through numerous studies and researches, it has been established that these drinks are not good for the health. Aside from this, they also contribute to rapid weight gain and even obesity due to their high sugar content. Unfortunately, even beverages which are marketed as being extracted from fresh fruits are also not good because they not only have hidden calories but they also contain additives and preservatives.

We all know that water is essential for life. Unfortunately however, people seem to have forgotten about the importance of drinking pure, clean water. Based on their studies, Naturopathic doctors say that we should drink at least 1/2 ounce of water for every pound of body weight. Leading doctors who know the necessity of being always well-hydrated also hold the same view.

These days, health experts are actively stressing anew the importance of drinking water. It is a very basic need of the human body. We would be able to survive without food longer than when we are deprived of water. The body’s cleansing system runs on water because it flushes out the toxins that have built-up within it.
